Each supervisor has the responsibility for understanding and managing the
spirit and intent of current employment laws and practices related to the fair treatment
of employees. Each supervisor has the responsibility to understand and recognize
discriminatory employment practices that can occur within their organization. Utilizing
non-discriminatory employment practices will avoid unnecessary expenditures of time
and money, improve employee morale, and enhance operational effectiveness. This
program addresses the following controversial and important employment laws issues:
Sexual Harassment, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Hiring, Discipline, Termination,

Sexual Harassment
Participants will learn about what is and is not sexual harassment, examples of
harassing conduct, company and personal liabilities, discuss why victims don't speak
out, what to do if sexual harassment occurs, and employee, employer and management
responsibilities. This course can focus on employees, supervisors or both.

Valuing Diversity
Managing diversity and working with people who are different is more difficult and
certainly more complex than managing and working with people who share the same
perspectives, motivations, and work styles. This course focuses on the self-awareness,
sensitivity, and skill required to be successful in the current and future American
workplace. We will discuss the dynamics of Workforce 2000, stereotypes and
how they are developed, and ways to value diversity by celebrating the strengths
these differences bring to the workplace. This course can focus on employees,
supervisors or both.

Hiring Right: Finding The Right Person - The First Time
Because each new person we hire represents a considerable investment, we want to
help people ensure they will "source, select, and hire the right person the
first time". During this program, we will discuss ways to (1) creatively source
and recruit an excellent pool of candidates, (2) identify what we legally can and
cannot ask, (3) determine what information about each candidate you need to confirm
or explore in greater detail, (4) focus the interview on key areas that will identify
the probability of job success and (5) be able to make a hiring recommendation you
can support.

Coaching, Counseling, and Feedback
This workshop will teach your managers to encourage competent performers to make
the most of their skills and abilities as well as to seek out new challenges, work
with problem performers to help them meet basic standards and fulfill departmental
goals, and give people ongoing feedback to keep them on track and to guide them
toward higher levels of achievement.

Discipline, Corrective Action…and If Necessary Termination
This workshop focuses on effective techniques for clarifying, formalizing and recording
performance problems. We discuss ways to prepare informal and formal documentation
and how to discuss the issues with employees that will result in improved performance.
However, when performance does not improve and termination is necessary, we guide
you through the process of termination and avoiding liability.

There is a universal need in all people to work successfully with others, be
persuasive, gain other’s support and cooperation and develop confidence.
At the conclusion of this seminar participants will be able to communicate under
pressure, handle aggressive people, offer non-defensive forms of criticism, deal
with disagreeable personalities, and reach agreements through win-win situations.

Drug-Free Workplace
This workshop is aimed at teaching supervisors how to administer a company’s
Drug Free Workplace policy and procedures. During the session we will discuss
employee concerns, effects on people and the workplace, signs and symptoms of abuse,
supervisory responsibilities, the link to performance problems, the policy and testing
procedures. A separate employee training session is also available.
